Evaluation & Tryout Information

Each year the 8U, 10U, and 12U softball divisions have tryouts and evaluations.

For all tryout and evaluation levels, the only equipment players need to bring are their glove (bat and helmet too if they have their own).

Listed below is information about each divisions tryout or evaluation.

Moving Up  a  Division

For spring 2026, registered 6 year old tee ball players can tryout for the 8U softball division. Please note that trying out does not guarantee a spot in the 8U softball division.

If your child fits in the above scenario, here is the process:

1. Let the CLL Player Agent know your child's desire to move up by completing this form
   
   
2. The player will attend requested division tryouts (listed in section below) in front of Head Coaches and Board members. If the coaches and board members feel like they are ready for the requested division, the player will enter the draft. If the coaches and board members don't feel like they are ready to be placed in the requested division, the player will remain in the age-appropriate division.
   
   
3. Draft/Team Selection Day: If your player makes it this far, They will be eligible to be placed on a team. If your player is selected during the draft, they will play in the requested division. If your player is not selected during the draft, they will play in their age-appropriate division. The parent/guardian will be responsible for the difference in cost from their original division to their new division. The decision of CLL is final.

12U Evaluations

Ages: All 12U softball players (Ages 11 and 12)

Purpose: The purpose of the evaluation is to allow kids to swing the bat and throw while the coaches observe to ensure a competitive balance in the 12U division.

Dates:  Players only need to attend one of the two sessions listed below.  Both sessions are indoors. To schedule your tryout, please complete this form

10U Evaluations

Ages: All 10U softball players (Ages 9 and 10)

Purpose: The purpose of the evaluation is to allow kids to swing the bat and throw while the coaches observe to ensure a competitive balance in the 10U division.

8U Evaluations & Tryouts

Ages: All 8U softball players (Ages 7 & 8) and 6 year old registered Tee Ball players that want to tryout for 8U Softball

Purpose:  This is NOT a tryout for 8U softball 7 & 8 year olds. The purpose of the 8U softball evaluation is to allow kids to swing the bat and throw while the coaches observe to ensure that talent is evenly distributed among the teams. This IS a tryout for the 6 year old tee ballers to determine if they are a good fit for 8U softball or would be better suited for Tee Ball.
